REX Karmaveer Global Youth Fellowship(RKGYF 2020)

in association with Karmaveer Chakra Awards

Instituted by iCONGO in partnership with United Nations is an honour that is bestowed upon young champions of Change.

The purpose of this fellowship is to mentor students so that they understand the value of character rooted leadership and how character and not just competence takes people ahead. Thus, we are building a culture of volunteering, which has been recognized as the best form of leadership. This will also introduce the fellows to a culture of Learning2Learn, Which is one of the most essential skill, sought after by all lvy League universities and organizations.

The EU legislation for lifelong learning emphasises on eight key skills like Learning2Learn, initiative and entrepreneurship, cultural awareness and expression, civic social responsibility and literacy.

These are not competence-based skills but character-rooted skills which include Emotional, Spiritual and Moral Quotient and not just IQ.

Our ultimate goal is to be champions of change and reward the people who bring about this change.

Genesis: The Karmaveer Chakra awards is the flagship initiative for the UN in the International Year of Volunteering and the REX Karmaveer mission. At the behest of the UN, iCONGO instituted the Karmaveer Chakra awards in partnership with the UN, to recognise people from around the world, who are CHAMPIONS OF CHANGE and REAL HEROES, leading and inspiring transformation by changing mindsets for making a difference towards achieving the Millennium Development and Sustainable Goals for the cause of humanity and the greater good in our world.

In the past 16 years, REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship has been presented to everyone from Princes, Princesses, Authors, Actors, Captains of Industry, Business Executives, Media Professionals, Bureaucrats, Diplomats, NGO/UN Leaders, Educators, Teachers, Leadership Experts, Lawyers, Professionals, Global Crusaders, Innovators, Entrepreneurs, Volunteers, Soldiers, Slum Dwellers and others. And like all these people from all walks of life, who have been recognised, the REX Karmaveer awards has ALSO recognised and awarded educators from around the world for their path-breaking work in the holistic development of children in the past.

Mission: To inspire our youth to pursue their dream, and transform their passion into the vision and mission of their life.

Vision:  A society of Missionary PassioPreneurs who are effective entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs who create value by practising human values by making a positive contribution for oneself, family, organisation, society, country, and the world.

Why?: The Corona Pandemic has not only created infectious health concerns but has also created an economic slowdown. As a matter of fact, it is not a slowdown but an economic breakdown! Millions have been laid off worldwide and there are no jobs in the market. Most students and youth who are graduating from colleges (including expensive ones) are trained to be job seekers and career mules (Refer Education World interview), and will feel defeated/ cheated when they find themselves without career options.

The need of the moment: There are no jobs out there. We have to ensure that our youth do not go astray or feel defeated and cheated due to lack of opportunities.  The country and our world could compromise the energy, enthusiasm and enterprise of the vibrant, vehement and vigorous young adults. Together we all must work to ensure that our youth truly becomes a demographic dividend and not a tax or a scourge.  It’s a ticking time bomb and we need to awaken and acknowledge reality.

Social Concern: Lack of opportunities has huge implications for the youth and may lead to major mental and emotional health concerns. There is another BIG epidemic happening in our world that no one wants to acknowledge and address.  So, what epidemic are we talking about?

DEPRESSION. This could result in escalated cases of suicide and the most vulnerable are our youth.

Other related societal concerns could be a rise in violence and crime of all kinds. Remember the adage ‘Idle minds are the devil’s workshop’. The same young minds that are touted by many politicians in their speeches as demographic dividend could become a curse for society, if the energy and education is not channelled in the right direction to harness collective productivity. Thus, there is a need for a paradigm shift in the mindsets of the youth. They need to be trained to become independent professionals who can explore potential synergies with motivational, inspirational mentoring--to think, to understand and to seek alternative new-age vocations and careers.

The Solution: miLLLss is an online program to prepare our youth for their journey of life, with mentoring from youth mentors and mentors-in-residence---people who have created their personal brands, by pursuing their passion and living their dreams as Influencers (on YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram etc), Magicians, Entertainers, Restaurateurs, Authors, Artists, Musicians, Models, Fashion Designers, Sculptors, Architects, Human-Rights Lawyers, Animators, Gamers, Entrepreneurs, Historians, Design-Thinkers, Teachers, Psychologists, Sommeliers, Green/Ecology Workers,  Travel-Industry Enthusiasts, Food Bloggers, Chefs, Sustainable-Growth Workers, Police Women, Coders, Bartenders, Climate-Change Activists, Ethical Hackers, Volunteers, Vloggers, Actors, Digital Marketers, Dancers, Poets, Community Builders, Sports Persons, Graphic Designers, Photographers, Content Creators, Radio/Disc Jockey, Instructors, Fitness Trainers, Web/App Developers, Bloggers and others.

Our youth can become whoever they want to become! Independent, confident young adults who are ready to dare to dream and work towards achieving their dreams by unleashing their unlimited Heroic Potential. Youth who can shape their future by tapping and harnessing their creative skills and following their passion to not only create entrepreneurships for themselves, but jobs and inspiration for others as well.

Our chosen mentors (youth mentors and experienced mentors-in-residence) are carefully curated mavericks, mavens and magnificent personal brands who have walked the path less trodden and paved their own paths. These moJOsh Inspirator mentors will steer our students and youth to the path towards becoming job-creators and not just job-seekers. The mentors along with our co-founders, Eitu Vij Chopra (Mission Lead and Just Another Volunteer) and Nishant Sharma, will coach our youth to help them create win-win value for themselves and for society by making positive contributions.

miLLLss will also have life, leadership and learning2learn lessons from the moJOsh Inspirator self-help books and learning2learn framework created by Jeroninio (Jerry) Almeida, who has coached/mentored several officers from the Indian Armed Forces; CEOs/CXOs in over 90% of Fortune 500 companies; Unicorn ventures and their founders/entrepreneurs; management teams of PSEs; School/College owners, Principals, Educators, and several young politicians and celebrities.

Eligibility: The e-RKGYF  initiative endeavours to reach out to students between 15-25 years studying in Class 11-12 in High School and youth pursuing their undergraduate studies in college. We may also consider youth/students (upto 30 years) pursuing postgraduate courses in education institutions. We at REX Karmaveer Global Youth Fellowship aspire to take this character rooted learning & fellowship (pro bono) to over 10 million students in government schools/colleges to  support and empower youth from the underserved communities.

All chosen youth fellows who attend miLLLss will also benefit from the ABCDE--Anybody Can Do Entrepreneurship Learning2Learn lessons. This is a compelling talk-and-workshop with real stories of moJOsh missionary PassioPreneurs, who have transformed their passion into their vision and mission. The stories are blended with compelling insights for mind-grind, skill-pills needed for disciplined entrepreneurship, and cool-tools to pave the path to become great entrepreneurs who create value and not just valuation.

ABCDE has benefited several thousands of students through the exclusive bespoke talks/workshops we have facilitated in schools and colleges around the world. We bring the concepts to life with true stories of Real Heroes, which makes the learning real. We can narrate these stories with total conviction because of our research and first-person encounters/engagement with our real heroes. Thus, unlike other coaches, we have the unique advantage of explaining the learning concepts with stories that are true and real (and not just with fables or metaphors), to make them highly Practical, Pragmatic and Plausible.

The learning is accompanied with incisive insights, ideas for action and potent, powerful and pensive life, leadership and learning2learn lessons from the Karma Kurry and moJOsh Inspirator self-development & inspirational book series. moJOsh Inspirator is a learning framework created by the founders of the Rex Karmaveer Global Fellowship Mission.

REX Guiding Principles

KARMAYUGA : Creating Generation Next to create the future and to become the future. Because Youth should not just look at what the future offers to them but create the future. e-RKGYF and miLLLss are initiatives under the aegis of Karmayuga launched by the International confederation of NGOs and the UN in 2011.

To aspire towards a Yuga i.e. an era, where each performs Karma i.e. voluntary and virtuous action as prescribed by ancient Indian scriptures and Fundamental Duties as prescribed in the Indian Constitution. To inspire Indians towards every day practice of Individual Social Responsibility and Citizen Action. To inspire a generation towards pursuit of Solid Character as an alternate goal post

The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected and integral to KarmaYuga.

Fundamental Duties as enshrined in the Indian Constitution are virtuous and voluntary actions, in other words Karma, to be performed by Indian citizens towards State and Society in conjunction with the all-pervasive Fundamental Rights that they can demand from State and Society. Fundamental Duties provide a roadmap to Character Building of Indians as Individuals and India as a nation. Our Character as a Nation and as Individuals has declined as this has not panned out and it is imperative that we as a Nation recognize that this cannot carry on. Integrity and Values must be evidenced in the moral and performaning areas of life of Indians and discharged with virtuous and voluntary actions towards State and Society. An Individual who does so is a Karmaveer, a person of Solid Character who inspires the pursuit of solid character in his family and community.

#SwachhBharatMission- A #CleanIndia begins with cleaning mindsets, beliefs, values, culture and behaviours!

We need to develop the right mindsets, beliefs, human values and behaviours and this will make us better human beings, better citizens and better professionals at work.
