Mr. Aakash Nambiar
Aakash Nambiar, 28, native of Kerala, settled in Bangalore is an engineer and MBA graduate. He works in a US based MNC as a social media community manager. Sports is his passion from childhood, having played for school, college, district and university in cricket. In 2013, he started running which he never dreamt of. Meeting the supermodel, actor and marathon runner was the turning point of his life. He introduced him to Pinkathon, India’s largest women only run. He was appointed as the Pinkathon Ambassador in Bangalore in 2013. He ran his first 10km and 21km in 2014 and next year he was able to do his first full marathon (42.2km). They also started training visually impaired, hearing impaired women for running. Last year he took part in Mera Terah run, an initiative by Jagadish Damania. Mera Terah Run is a collective that picks socially relevant causes every year and combines awareness-building and fund-raising to support these causes via a novel and interesting method of running a half marathon on 13 consecutive days. In 2015, he celebrated New Year by running from Bangalore to Mysore barefoot along with Milind Soman and 5 other runners to promote Pinkathon and also to spread awareness about breast cancer. When Bangalore was affected by worst summer of the decade, he started a campaign called “MARK YOU BARK”. The concept was simple where each person plants a sapling. With around 300 saplings planted, it created awareness among people. After all these learning experiences, he has decided to combine his knowledge on running and awareness on various social causes.

He is a traveler, thinker, and founder of “Lets Travel for a Cause”. With over twelve years of experience in the corporate sector, he has successfully worked in leadership roles in the area of strategic HR, leadership development and Learning & Development in the corporate sector. In the social sector, he has worked passionately in the area of Micro-savings and financial literacy. A lawyer by profession, Asha is the co-founder of NHP Centre, a not-for-profit body engaged in the development of a framework of diverse, creative and integrated initiatives that aid in cultural progress and social consciousness of communities which form essential indicators for measuring the happiness quotient, growth and success of its members. She is also the co-founder of Fellows of Nature (FON), set up in partnership with French Institute in India, to build a community of nature writers and revive interest in nature writing and reading and, through this form of literature, bring the critical issue of climate change under the spotlight. Under this project, the first international FON South Asia Short Story Award on Nature Writing has been started. As co-founder of NHP Centre, Asha is also involved in the planning of Kumaon Literary Festival – a unique literature festival held in the villages of Kumaon. The festival promotes new talent and helps the economy of the villages in it is held. Another project she is leading at NHP Centre is Literary Bhagidarito mentor the youth of the country so promote leaders who excel in the field of art and literature with the objective that the cultural development of the country is no less than its economic growth. The spirit and enthusiasm of Bindu’s father experienced by her at an early stage of her life left an indelible imprint upon her mind that further proceed her to work for the social cause while creating a new awakening among women, poor & marginalized in order to live a life of dignity. For the women’s empowerment she worked with the socially excluded groups comprising of schedule caste, Muslims and utmost focus was given to the women coming from these communities taking support from PACS, a DFID program. Around 1295 women joined into vibrant 93 women’s group called ‘Mahila Manch’ in the locale where 168 women’s leaders are emerging as ‘Change Makers’. She has been associated with several national and state-level networks i.e. AALI, INSAF, WHARP, and others. Earning livelihood is a basic need of the communities she works within the remote villages & challenging area of district Chandauli, U.P. For this, training in sewing and beautician were initiated by own resources. District administration appreciably joins the organization i.e. Gramya Sansthan headed by Bindu Singh through Small Scale Skill Development Programme. Support was sought in mobilization, beneficiary’s selection and certification of the trainees for their economic upliftment. Bindu has hands-on experience to work on women’s issues on the ground that is evident in her work and cases studies as well. She worked on this aspect for her social cause and significantly helped many victim women seeking assistance on all sort of violence and injustice and for their emancipation.

Ajay Mittal is a young entrepreneur and opportunity maker from Kolkata, India. Akshay Gunteti is a traveller, an Entrepreneur and a Climate Change leader. He embarked on the journey to meet entrepreneurs across India which is known as ‘Indian Start-Up Tour’. The main objective of the tour is to understand the basic challenges faced by the entrepreneurs and to reduce the failure rate of startups in India. He also spent much of his time at Incubators, Accelerators and Research Centers to better understand the startup Ecosystem and its challenges. Till now he has covered 25 cities in a span of 12 months traveling across 25000 km in India. In his journey, he helped more than 100+ startups in rural and urban areas in every possible way such as financial, mentoring and networking with the various stakeholders in the ‘Indian Startup Tour Phase 1’. In his Phase 2, he aims to cover 40 more cities in the Northern and North-Eastern parts of the country. Akshay has himself endeavored into three major startups of his own. Anandana Kapur has continued to dedicate herself to the task of creating social change through storytelling in film and training spaces. She has conducted gender and cinema workshops for underprivileged youth along with WISCOMP which is under the aegis of HH Dalai Lama. She also conceptualised, developed and coordinated a flagship course on Media and Translation for the NGO Katha by way of skills development and critical thinking among youth in Delhi. The co-creation of CINEMAD India with her colleges Jayakrishna and Subhash has seen the formation of a film based organisation that documents and supports initiatives of young women and men supported by NGOs and entrepreneurship programmes in India and abroad. Anita Babu is an ardent dancer. In her first attempt on the topic of Water Conservation titled NADI NARAYANI which highlighted the issue of protecting our water bodies. So far they have performed this item at over 30 occasions at various festivals and functions across India, She was nominated and awarded the WOMEN LEADERSHIP ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN ARTS & CULTURE from the World Women Leadership Congress in 2016 for her work in the field of Odissi and using it as a medium to highlight social issue. Her next attempt was in 2015 was on the topic of harnessing the power of SUN as a source of energy. The title was SURYA TRISHNA. Her latest attempt has been in 2016 which is on the topic of Human Trafficking. The title of this production is ‘AGNIKANYA – We Will Awaken’ reflecting the life and struggle of millions Indian women who fight against a sea of social oppression. The dance depicts the struggle of the protagonist to achieve her dreams and aspirations despite all hindrances.
