Brave Women of Shaheen Bagh

20.1.2020 is a very special day  in the history of Right Every Wrong, Citizen Action and Rex Karmaveer Movement. The women of Shaheenbagh were conferred with the REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship and Karmaveer Chakra-Global Award (RGKF) instituted by International-Confederation-Of-NGO-(iCONGO) in partnership with UN (United-Nations).

Rex Karmaveer celebrates inclusivity, egalitarianism and extraordinary in ordinary and unsung heroes.

For the first time in the 16 year history of REX Karmaveer, The awards conferred traditionally at the REX  karmaveer CONCLiVE and the  “REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship and Karmaveer Chakra-Global Awards (RGKF)” were given to all the women of Shaheen Bagh at Shaheen Bagh forsocial justice and citizen action.

We at REX Karmaveer believe and celebrate the  “POWER of ONE” and “I Change to Change India, I Change to Change the World ”.

We at REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship and Karmaveer Chakra awards broke our almost two decade long tradition and  standard processes for the women of Shaheen Bagh. REX Karmaveer Global Mission were the first organisation to recognise all the women of Shaheen Bagh for their grit, determination and resilience to lead peaceful, dignified, non-violent protest against the Citizen Amendment Act that could block the muslims from citizenship of the India.  Shaheen Bagh  women’s great courage of conviction and compassion and their silent, non violent, peaceful and highly effective protest needed more and all strength to their shoulders to keep standing up and speaking out with their simple but extraordinarily productive protest.

Fearlessness is the true colour of strength and sisterhood. The tenacity of silent women protest shall be hallmark of democracy, secular world and hallmark of power that the women carry in their womb which unleashes a wave of hope and learning for future generations. This inspiration is worthy of imbue and passed on as glorious history of protesting with guiding principles of Non violence and peace.

The women of Shaheen Bagh have also set an example for the world to follow and emulate. "The Brave Women Of SHAHEENBAGH" showed exemplary compassion and courage of conviction to lead the most silent, non violent, peaceful protest by creating a HUGE VOICE OF DISSENT, to safeguard secular and democratic  belief in inclusivity and power of women and the constitution of this great Nation.

"Bol ki lab Azad hai tere

Bol zubaan ab tak teri hai"

Speak for your lips are free, speak for it carries the truth ,speak for your life is still your own. The words and sentiments of Faiz Ahmed Faiz have always been true and reverberated like no other across the world in the context of freedom of speech and freedom to raise a collective voice against wrong.

"If patriotism were defined, not as blind obedience to government, not as submissive worship to flags and anthems, but rather as love of one's country, one's fellow citizens (all over the world), as loyalty to the principles of justice and democracy, then patriotism would require us to disobey our government, when it violated those principles"

Howard Zinn

American historian, playwright, and socialist thinker

At the forefront of the protest were the three dadis( grand -mothers) who guided and inspired women of all age group that participated in the protest day and night. We at Rex Karamveer had the good fortune to talk to them and share ideas for action and lend our support to them. Every single time we visited we were welcomed with love and affection and more stories of conviction to fight with greater resilience. Bilkis Bano dadi  who is 82 year old and the oldest among all the women there and the spokesperson, the most agile and communicative would debate with facts and compassion in equal amounts. Her words are etched on our mind.’’ I shall fight for my rights and the rights of the coming generation till my last breath, this nation belongs to  Indian muslims as much to anyone else, and I shall protest for justice and equality till I live.’’. For her absolute strength of character she has been named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Her perseverance and steadfastness to steer the silent and peaceful protest through its 101 days till Covid 19 hit the world is an inspiring real life collective story.

The spirit of this protest will not wither it shall be kept alive; ‘’Together as One We can Right every Wrong.’’ Always rise to be with Right and the Righteousness with integrity, compassion and empathy. Our diversity and multi-faith and multicultural democracy  is our strength as a nation and as a society.
